IBCLC breastfeeding support
I’m an IBCLC lactation consultant offering private breastfeeding support in Worthing, Brighton and the surrounding areas of Sussex.
For many women, breastfeeding is an important part of mothering their baby. But whilst breastfeeding may be natural, it often isn’t easy. Some families find it’s smooth sailing from the very first feed. But for others it can be difficult, with a baby who isn’t able to feed, pain, or concerns that the baby isn’t getting enough milk. Maybe a problem develops a few weeks or months in, which can be upsetting when you thought you knew what you were doing. Every mum and baby need to learn what works for them, but they might need some help along the way. That’s where I can help.
What does a lactation consultant do?
I’m an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I’ve been helping breastfeeding families since 2006. So I can provide skilled, practical help and emotional support to mums and babies who are experiencing breastfeeding difficulties or complex situations.
My aim is to help you to reach your breastfeeding goals, whatever they might be. It may be that you intend to breastfeed exclusively for many months, or that you want to mixed feed (combine breastfeeding and bottle feeding). Maybe your baby isn’t here yet, but you want to prepare for breastfeeding whilst you are still pregnant. Whatever stage of your breastfeeding journey you are at, whatever your question, concern or problem, I can help with practical suggestions alongside emotional support, tailored to your individual circumstances.
Situations I can help with
- Nipple damage and pain
- Slow weight gain and weight loss
- Baby who can’t latch on to breastfeed
- Mastitis and abscess
- Breastfeeding a sick or premature baby, including expressing
- Reflux and colic
- Breastfeeding twins (or more!)
- Re-lactating (returning to breastfeeding after formula feeding)
- Preparing to breastfeed whilst you’re till pregnant
……….and many more!
